Students' Meeting
Tuesday June 29th 7pm
We are a group of La Canada High School alumni and community members who began La Canada BLM one year ago in an effort to combat racism in our community. As recent college graduates returning to La Canada we have learned how challenging it can be to organize and make an impact in our community. We also know how daunting and difficult it can be to engage in this work. So, we have put together a brief presentation to give you a place to start. We invite you to join us in a conversation with other students about how we can amplify our efforts to make change. In the presentation we have also laid out a set of new initiatives that we would like to share with you. We believe that we can all benefit from talking and learning from one another. So please consider joining us in sharing our ideas and lending our support for one another. Feel free to DM or email us if you are interested and we will do our best to coordinate a time that works best for everyone.

The Evolution Of LCBLM
LCBLM began with what was supposed to be just one protest on May 31st, 2020. But, after seeing the need and demand for this work in our community we began organizing and have now grown into much more. We have petitioned the city council, hold weekly protests, created a website, joined coalitions, and have formed connections with longtime activists and organizations. That said, the now year old leadership of LCBLM is evolving as our head organizer steps back later this year to attend medical school. In preparation for this we are hoping to reshape the organization to ensure that our message is not lost. If you are interested, we invite you to attend our meeting to learn how you can carry on activism for BIPOC in our community and evolve LCBLM into your own.
